Father's Day & Summer Solstice ~

This weekend is Father's Day .. a day to celebrate and honor the men in our lives.
I was not fortunate to know my Dad ... however, my Grandpa and Uncles were very loving and positive roll models for me.

Some quotes for Father's Day:

'It is not flesh and blood ..
but the heart which makes us ..
fathers and sons. '
- - Johann Schiller

'Sherman made the terrible discovery that men make about their fathers sooner or later... that the man before him was not an aging father but a boy, a boy much like himself, a boy who grew up and had a child of his own and, as best he could, out of a sense of duty and, perhaps love, adopted a role called Being a Father so that his child would have something mythical and infinitely important: a Protector, who would keep a lid on all the chaotic and catastrophic possibilities of life. '
~ ~Tom Wolfe, The Bonfire of the Vanities

"My father didn't tell me how to live;
he lived, and let me watch him do it."
-- Clarence Budington Kelland

The longest day of the year is the Summer Solstice, usually on June 21st.

'Then followed that beautiful season... Summer....
Filled was the air with a dreamy and magical light; and the landscape
Lay as if new created in all the freshness of childhood.'
~~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

'Summer is the time when one sheds one's tensions with one's clothes,
and the right kind of day is jeweled balm for the battered spirit.
A few of those days and you can become drunk with the belief
that all's right with the world.'
~~Ada Louise Huxtable

Enjoy the balmy summer days ahead.
~ til next time,

This would be a great FD present for my dad. Especially since I haven't gotten him one in a few years....
